How did you come up with your racing number?
It was a random pick.

I started out racing with #12 but going into the 2003 race season heading to the indoor series I needed to change my number due to the fact that Keith Little would be there. So I changed to #72 and at sign up the person in front of me signed up using the #72 who we all know as the life of the party Skyler Stewart. At that time I need a number and fast. Kory came to the rescue with a 3 and 5. Since no one had the 35 I went with it. I’ve been running it ever since.

How did you guys meet?
I sold him a axle at the track in '99.

I met Kory at my first race I ever raced. It was Perris Raceway in California in 1999. I had bent an axle in the first moto and was looking for one and everybody I talked to said Kory Ellis has one. He was kind of a big deal but I didn’t even know him. Anyway we met and it has been all down hill from there, (just kidding).

What was your most memorable road trip with each other?
It was the second time we rode together. We were going went to St Louis for a PACE stadium race. After the race was over at midnight we decided to go out and see what the night life was like. We ended up staying out all night long. Somehow neither of us spent one dollar. We were both pretty broke at the time. After about an hour of sleep we had to get out of the room before they charged us for another night for the room. We were a complete mess driving home. Darrell could only sit down on one cheek because his butt was so bruised from all the mayhem the night before. We ate at every gas station because all we had for money was a Shell credit card. I think the box van never went slower than 90 mph the whole way home.

I would have to say any of the trips we took to St. Louis.
