Jim Vidmar Wins CHCA Hill Climb Season Opener

Jim VidmarThe Colorado Hill Climb Association (CHCA) held its first event of the 2010 season on May 8 and 9. CHCA typically kicks off its season every year in beautiful Canon City, Colorado on Mother’s Day weekend. CHCA has been sanctioning hill climb events in Colorado for over 30 years.
The race course near Canon City winds through Temple Canyon. The course has a variety of terrain with one extremely long strait of way and numerous twists and turns. A total of 56 cars, trucks and ATV’s took to the course on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for practice and qualifying.
Duncan Racing International (DRI) rider, and 2009 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb quad class champion Jim Vidmar started the 2010 season right where he left off in '09 where he was the fastest qualifier and race winner at the CORE Hill Climb, (the final CHCA event of '09). After Saturday’s practice concluded Jim was on top of the leader board and had qualified in the first position with a time of 3:31.05.
"I was really confident going in. I just knew I could improve on my times from Saturday and I knew my Duncan Racing Banshee would come through for me," said eventual overall quad class winner Jim Vidmar.
Jim had a successful first run on Sunday and finished with a solid time of 3:28.17 which put him in first place, over eight seconds faster than the second place rider, Troy Smith. When it was over, Vidmar ended the weekend with a time of 3:27.22 claiming the overall quad victory.
"What a blast! My DRI 500cc Banshee performed flawlessly the entire weekend. The Paul Turner racing exhaust and Fat Boy 2 silencers along with all of the DRI products really give me an advantage if you ask me. I can't wait for next round," said Vidmar after the race.
